Challenge

SEGA’s creative services team needed support designing, building, and testing high-quality email campaigns to promote upcoming game releases and competitions.

Working with legendary titles like Sonic, 13 Sentinels, and Lost Judgment came with an exciting challenge: maintaining SEGA’s bold creative identity while ensuring every campaign was delivered quickly, consistently, and flawlessly across all major email clients.

The team wanted a workflow that could keep up with the pace of game launches, that balanced creative freedom, technical precision, and rapid turnaround.

Solution

We partnered with SEGA to build a streamlined, component-based email framework designed for speed, scalability, and creative flexibility.
Using our modular system and rigorous testing process, we delivered reactive, on-brand campaigns that could be produced quickly without compromising quality or innovation.

Collaboration was key. Working closely with SEGA’s creative and technical teams, we architected a fully integrated email campaign workflow combining:

  • React and MJML for scalable, reusable HTML email components.
  • Customer.io for smooth campaign management and personalisation.
  • Email on Acid for automated testing and client compatibility verification.

To accelerate production, we built automated testing integrations using Email on Acid’s API.

This system automatically compiled, optimised, and packaged campaign assets, then generated real client screenshots for validation, ensuring visual consistency across all platforms and devices, including light and dark modes.

Results

Over time, these improvements created a comprehensive library of pre-tested components, covering every major email client and configuration.

This library became SEGA’s creative toolkit, allowing the team to rapidly assemble campaigns, cut production time, and maintain brand consistency across diverse titles and audiences.

The results spoke for themselves:

  • Faster campaign delivery: Rapid turnaround times for game launches and live events.
  • Consistent quality: Pre-tested components ensured flawless rendering across clients.
  • Cost efficiency: Streamlined production and reduced ongoing campaign costs.
